My first birthday
This picture was taken in the house where I was born, in a small town called Val-d'Or, in Quebec, Canada. My first words were in French. I only learned English much later, as a second language in school.
I was fascinated by the candle. I eventually tried to eat it, but the wax didn't taste as yummy as it looked.
Pig tails and a grin
I didn't change much, did I? Except for the pig tails.
Don't I look like a little angel? I was, actually, although my brother and sister would tell you that I was very bossy and sometimes extremely cranky. Don't listen to them. A picture is worth a thousand words, right?
Lion heads
The wider, the better, according to the mid-1980s style. A perm, a little teasing, and a LOT of hairspray will do the trick.
Do I look like my elder sister (right)? Some people used to ask us if we were twins, although we're six years apart. We used to fight like cats and dogs as kids, but we became best friends when I joined her in Quebec City to go to college. Here we are, in a retro cafe, having our favorite dessert: brownie with ice cream and hot fudge. Mmm!
Be fruitful, multiply...
... and be busy for the rest of your life. They are my pride, my inspiration, and my reason for living.
There's nothing like a pile of Christmas presents to get everyone to grin on a picture.

Awwwww!!! How cute! What happened, girl? hahaha!!
These are awesome, Annie. You are very brave posting the perm photo :D
Hey, the curtains you have behind you in the pig tails shot look just like the curtains that were in the hall of my old primary school...lol...I guess it was a similar era.
Generation X rules! The music was great, but I'm sooo glad the curtain styles changed since then. :D And what do you mean, "What happened, girl?" I'm still cute. :P
Hi Annie,
Thanks for sharing your photos. You have a beautiful family.
Jim
Yay for photos! I love looking at pictures. hehehe... Of course, now we have some blackmail... muahahaha... Thanks for sharing!
isn't it amazing how much we think we change over the years, but how little we really do? I loved this walk down your memory lane.
Thanks, Jim, Ralene, and Billy for your comments!
SO CUTE!! you are adorable!! :D
Tahereh, thanks for visiting my blog!
My sister and I are six years apart, and people always thought we were twins. Awkward when I was 21 and she was 15.
My suspense novel has a lot of setting in Quebec. Interesting.
Annie - you've got a beautiful family! Oh, and half the girls I knew in the 80's were dressed just like you with either the perm, the Pat Benatar or some other thing-a-ma-jig! Your hubby's a lucky man. ;-)
Tamara, I can't wait to read your novel! I should have joined the forum earlier. Now I have to wait until Fall.
Thanks, Jay! :)
